my new most favorite band

What better way to say a big "fuck off!" to 2006 and this shitty holiday season, than head banging to some dope-ass string metal.....

AT&T killed the thylacines

AT&T killed the thylacines

I spotted this one this morning at 23rd and Valencia on and AT&T billboard. The thylacine was the largest of the carnivorous marsupials that become extinct in the 1920s due to the encroachment of mankind...and AT&T.

Moody Mal's Rockout Wheelchair Sign

"This is another one of my art projects. I see a disabled sign everyday 'cos of my sister's condition. I was looking at one and thinking "How dumb! Disabled people have a life!" These signs should show what the "Disabled" person can do. I have a friend in a wheelchair who can play guitar like nobody's business!!!"

Gender-equal pictograms

The City of Vienna has just launched a campaign to raise awareness about gender equality.

Its aim is to "give both genders the same exposure and ensure an equal distribution of chances, opportunities and duties" by changing the gender of figures pictured on familiar signs.

santarchy 2006

Originally uploaded by evilsigntist.
Last Saturday there were 300+ Santas and Santa helpers strolling around North Beach. I followed them around for a couple of hours and snapped this shot of them hanging out in front of "House of Ecstasy" one of about 60 adult videos stores owned by a company I used to work for. I actually made the signs pictured here about five years ago.

the end of the mighty la contessa

words can't really describe how sad and ill this photo makes me. this ship had a life of its own and affected the lives of so many people. it was such a labor of love, such a beautiful thing to behold and be apart of. if she had to go down like this, couldn't we all have been there to behold the destruction?!?! she will be missed. - Mateo

It's a sad sad day....

La Contessa was a ship built by the Extra Action Marching Band and team of friends and volunteers to conquer the high seas of Nevada. She had many exciting and bounty full voyages.

Rene Gagnon at 11 Spring

from:
Wooster Collective
One of the artists involved in our Wooster on Spring project is the extremely talented Rene Gagnon. Last Saturday he came into town with his brother to do a piece for us inside. While we're trying not to show too much work from the interior of the building on the web (so that it will be a surprise when we opening it up to guests) we thought we'd show you this nice little video Rene did which condenses 5 hours of work into five minutes.

wikipodia

I'm reading Telstar logistic's blog from my 3G 15gig ipod.

This instructable
shows how to use automator and safari to extract the text from webpages, and copy them straight to your ipod with one click. I think this would be a great way to catch the news headlines on a morning bus/train commute. It transfers way faster than a podcast.

Canadian Nascar taggers

I ran accross these on one of my favorite flickr feeds today. Someone in Fairview Nova Scotia has been showing their love for NASCAR, by improving public utility boxes.
