Sign of the Week: 7

Will work for food? That's what the real world is all about right? Earn a descent wage, give half to Uncle Sam, pay your bills, and buy a can of soup with what you have left.
It's a good thing for kids to learn if you ask me. Maybe someone will hire her, and she'll see how much better it is to earn a little cash after school than run in circles.

according to the seller...
This is the original outdoor sign used by Kinsey's Institute for Sex Research when they moved to Indiana University's Jordan Hall in 1955. This is a one of a kind item and I have no idea where this auction will go so I have started with a low opening bid and no reserve. The sign is metal with plenty of surface rust and dirt. I have not tried to clean it and will leave any restoration effort up to the winning bidder. The sign weighs 15 lbs. and measures 20" high and 30" wide.

Kangaroo warning sign maker collides - with a roo
CANBERRA: An Australian man who works for a company that makes road signs warning motorists of kangaroos has been involved in a motorbike accident - with a kangaroo.
"I was riding my motorbike with my mate when the kangaroo jumped straight into it," Australia's Herald Sun newspaper on Friday quoted John Fleming as saying.
"Of course I've got a bit of flak from my mates calling me Skippy, and the guys from work sent me a get well card that's a warning sign for a kangaroo."
Skippy was the kangaroo star of an Australian television series.
Australia's population of kangaroos is conservatively estimated at more than 57 million and pose the biggest animal risk to motorists, accounting for more than 70 percent of animal related accidents in 2004.

Take Down that Sign!
Last week I blogged about concerned LA citizens that had 50 cent's movie billboards removed.
Here's another one. A lady from the mid west is upset about her daughters seeing a billboard that advertises "Sex in the City" near their home. Not because it is a lousy TV show with poorly written scenarios, but because "It portrays a promiscuous lifestyle."
What I want to know is why are her elementary-school aged daughters driving?
...and NY Mayor Bloomberg is mad about a Dewar's whisky billboard ad that makes fun of how rich he is.

Drumhead Decal

I needed to make a two color decal for one of the drummers my band. The best way to layer two different colors of vinyl is to use a light table. I don't have a light table, but I do have a glass-topped picnic table in my back yard.
Here is a step by step slidshow that shows how I used it to align the two-color graphic.

You can now see the famous Hollywood sign in a movie of it's own, as if you were falling toward it from space.
