ISA in LV

Before I take off to blow shit up with big machines, I'll be flying in to Las Vegas, for the big sign show.
The company I work for,Priority Architectural Graphics, is sending me to check out what's new in the sign biz.

I was hoping to get a chance to check out the the sign grave yard, but according to the Neon Museum website it is only available for groups of ten or more.

SRL in LA

So I haven't blogged in a while. I've been spending most of my free time with "The Inch Worm" down at the SRL shop, getting it ready for the big show in LA this weekend. We're running out of time to get everything packed, fixed, and built before showtime....and when is show time? Well , you'll have to check the SRL website in the next couple of days. Sorry we can't let everyone know too soon , or too many people show up and/or it gets cancelled for various reasons.

Here's some videos of what happened last time we were there.

Reflections in brass

I'd have to say I have a unique relationship with brass. I play in the low brass section of my band for fun, and at work I engrave brass plaques, which really isn't that much fun at all. It's teadious and difficult, but I am starting to appreciate it. I do like the sense of accomplishment I get from completing an engraving, with the perfect depth, a clean paint-fill, and a perfectly polished surface with no dings or scratches. This is not unlike the sense of accomplishment I get from mastering a difficult horn part. So anyway, I noticed some cool reflections in a hunk of brass yesterday, and thought I would take some pictures of it. I've added them to the Evil Signtist Image Gallery .

Matt Siber - Floating Logos

Floating Logos is inspired by signs perched high atop very tall poles in order for people to view them from a long distance away. Often these poles are so tall that the signs on top of them loom over us, ominously broadcasting their message. The digital elimination of the poles not only illustrates this effect further but also serves to disconnect the signs from the ground and reality.
