Extra Action packed week

So we( Extra Action Marching Band )played our first night of a three night engagement with the amazing David Byrne last night at the Fillmore. What a show! He delivered every note with passion, and his whole band was smiling and having a genuinely great time doing what they love to do. It was a huge honor, and I can't wait to do it again tonight, and again tomorrow. We just managed to get our merchandise together for this show (New CD cover pictured here) thanks to Wiley,Simon,Van Rippen, and Violet Blue. Hopefully it will be for sale soon on our website too.

Braille Bug

Every character in the braille code is based on an arrangement of one to six raised dots. Each dot has a numbered position in the braille cell. These characters make up the letters of the alphabet, punctuation marks, numbers, and everything else you can do in print.
Braille Bug
is a site that helps kids learn about braille, but I think it is great for adults as well.

The Roof is on Fire!

Dude! Kiss is on my roof

The black-and-white painted faces of the rock band Kiss peer from the roof of Dana Morris' home in suburban Gulf Breeze. In Pensacola, Allan Weaver's auto repair shop is topped with an ad for a plumbing service. They are among the first victims of Hurricane Ivan to take advantage of an offer from Lamar Advertising Co. to use vinyl billboard ads as roof tarps until owners can get permanent repairs.

Zeroboutique.com

dumptruckgiraffe-aaron neely

All the way from Nova Scotia, Zero Boutique offers the wide angle on independant urban art. The site features a huge graffiti gallery, and a fine-art gallery where you can actually buy the prints online. The coolest part of ZB, is the T-shirt shop. They accept submissions from artists to be made into shirts. Then they display the images in a Flash animated visualiser, so you can see what they look like on the shirt. You can then order a shirt, by picking the image, color, size, and style. Last but not least, you can become a zerokid, if you want to model you new shirt and send them a picture.

David Byrne & Lenticular Graphics

David Byrne has invited my band,EAMB to play with him at the Fillmore Feb 23,24,25.This is such an honor. Not only am I a fan of his music, but I'm also a fan of his artwork. I'm particularly impressed with his work in lenticular signage

Another innovator in lenticular graphics is my good buddy Augie...Eye Candy Graphics

Frank Chu Has a Posse

The Frank Chu Pub Crawl will be
Saturday February 12th at 12 Noon.
We will meet at the Powell Street Cable Car Turnaround.
We will be identified by the group with the Frank Chu signs.
The path will be up Powell to a bar in Union Square
(the choice will be based on the size of the group)
Then we will go to Union Square to hear some speeches.
We will turn at Sutter and then go up Grant and then through Northbeach
and end up at Fisherman's Wharf and maybe have some regular beers on Pier 39.
It will all be worth it if some perplexed tourist in Fisherman's Wharf
goes back and tells that people in San Francisco are protesting some elaborate
Intergalactic conspiracy. Bring either a sign (make your own or buy one from Frank) or a camera

If you don't konw who Frank Chu is, you must not live in the Bay Area.. check outhese links

Relan Bags: made from old billboards!

each bag by relan™ is one-of-a-kind, constructed out of a piece of billboard about the size of a tennis court. the billboard's graphic pattern and colors are preserved in always interesting and often attention-arresting ways, then stitched together to create an innovative, functional bag that demands and deserves daily use.
